Next conference:
September 2/3 2007
In previous years attendance, including accommodation in an Oxford College, has been free. In 2007 it may be necessary to make a modest charge.
Let us know if you would like to attend the 2007 event. Numbers will be limited; so tell us what your interest and involvement in the subject is.
In 2007 one of our aims is to increase the level of international attendance. |

Over 150 exceptional artists, scientists and others have attended two events in 2005 and 2006. Some comments: ‘I found the event hugely valuable. For days afterwards I could hardly think of anything else’ John Ashton, now the Foreign Secretary’s Special Representative on Climate Change. ‘I loved it. Totally Inspiring’ Katie Fforde, novelist. ‘It was a great privilege to be part of such an event. I came away inspired, very alarmed, and primed’ Robert McFarlane, Author, Mountains of the Mind. |

The Oxford Conference |
|
The Oxford Conference is the heart of TippingPoint’s programme, undertaken in partnership with (formerly under the auspices of ) the University of Oxford’s Environmental Change Institute. It is an intense 2-day creative experience, involving a wide range of activity, with a minimum of being talked at with a maximum of engagement. Open Space — where the agenda is set by those present rather than ‘experts’ — is among the tools used. PowerPoint is banned. |
|
‘It was one of the most important exercises I have ever taken part in—very well organized, timely, imaginatively set up, and profoundly necessary’ Philip Pullman Author, His Dark Materials and other works. ‘I find the subject now infiltrating my work and thoughts in all kinds of unexpected ways’ Sarah Wheeler Author, Terra Incognita and other works. |

This event will continue, and we aim to expand its scope and undertake it in other settings. |
