In May 2006 and as part of its radical programme of 50th Birthday celebrations the Royal Court Theatre continued the exploration of climate science in a cultural context. Playwright Caryl Churchill introduced an evening of discussion featuring two of the most gifted scientific communicators at the first Oxford Conference, namely Professors Chris Rapley, then Director of the British Antarctic Survey  and John Schellnhuber, founding Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impacts Research. Chaired by Royal Court Associate Director Ramin Gray the well attended evening took place during the Royal Court’s ‘Angry Week’ exploring some of the major challenges of our time.
