GATHERINGS
Royal Court Theatre March 2007
The evening offered a two part stimulus. Firstly, a chance to learn of the visceral experience of choreographer Siobhan Davies of Siobhan Davies Dance and Studio. Siobhan had been to the Arctic with Cape Farewell, and made ‘Endangered Species’ an installation for Cape Farewell’ s exhibition at the Natural History Museum. ‘I am trying to use my senses of feeling as an energy source. To find images and ideas for all of us that employ our emotions and turn us towards activity. My thoughts are absorbed by facts, but my body is telling me to get a move on’ Secondly we heard from a technologist, someone dealing in what the climate change world calls ‘solutions’. Dr Malcolm McCulloch is an expert on energy efficiency and renewable energy, and leads a group developing new technology. |
