Anne Borland

Reader in Molecular Plant Physiology at Newcastle University and Visiting Professor in the Plant Systems Biology Group at the Oakridge National Laboratory, TN, USA. My research is focussed on ‘nocturnal photosynthesis’, a phenomenon that helps plants conserve water. As Director of Moorbank Botanic Garden, I am passionate about raising the profile of plants and their importance in all aspects of our lives; as sources of food, fuel, medicine and fibres and as the support system for all life on earth.
