This is an example of one of numerous interventions by Hermann Josef Hack - see his web site for more:

On Saturday, July 4, 2009 Hermann Josef Hack gets his World Climate Refugee Camp erected in front of Hanover Central Station. With the help of many volunteers who participated in Hack’s workshop ONLY ART WILL STOP CLIMATE CHANGE and other participants of the congress klimaMachtflucht this weekend, more than 600 miniature refugee tents are set up in a few minutes.

In spite of the Deutsche Bahn security staff’s objections, the camp is a peaceful and expressive attraction to thousands of passers-by.

“It is just the heart of the city, where I want to place my symbol for the plight of the victims of climate war”, Hack says, “In the middle of the shopping malls where people make decisions which have influence on climate change, I want them to get aware of the coherency of consumption and the climate catastrophe, that’s why I’m here.”
